Hair dryer brushes have taken OVER and this article will cover EVERYTHING you need to know about the hottest hair tool on the market. What is the best hair dryer brush? Are hair dryer brushes good? Are hot air brushes bad for your hair? What is a hair dryer brush? We’ve got you covered!

P.S. you’ll love these articles, too!

What is a Hair Dryer Brush?

A hair dryer brush is double action because it simultaneously styles and dries your hair. So, you’re drying your wet hair and achieving your hair style at the same time instead of first drying your hair and THEN styling it with a straightener or curler or any other styling tool.

Hair dryer brushes are really convenient and cut your hair styling half in at least half, which is AMAZING. Also, with a hair dryer brush you can get your hair frizz-free, voluminous, and sleek in one easy step instead of several.

An added bonus is that you can use hair dryer brushes on wet hair. Of course, don’t use it when your hair is soaking wet, but you can use it on damp or towel dried wet hair. Ideally, use it on hair that’s about 80% dry. This way, you can cut out your hair dryer and your straightener/curler with this dryer brush.

These brushes are also really great for achieving that 90s supermodel hair that is so, so popular these days.

When you get your hair done at the salon and it looks bouncy and voluminous and even though you watch very carefully what the hair dresser is doing, it just never turns out the same at home, right? A hair dryer brush is probably the closest you’ll get to that salon blow-out. It will give you volume, get rid of frizz, and give so much bounce and life to your hair! I bet you’ll completely stop using other hair tools after trying it.

PRO TIP: The only warning I think a lot of people don’t realize is if a hair dryer brush is suitable for different lengths of hair. If you have long hair, then you should look for hair dryer brushes with a thicker barrel and longer bristles so that they can go through all your hair. But if you have short hair and want to use hair dryer brushes, then opt for one with a thinner barrel and shorter bristles. This is an important tip to keep in mind because a lot of people forget about it and then think the brush isn’t for them when it’s just the wrong one for their length!

If you want soft, tousled, big hair, then a hair dryer brush is exactly what you need!

Are Hot Air Dryer Brushes Bad for Your Hair?

Let’s be honest, most hair tools aren’t good for your hair. When you’re exposing your hair to heat, you’re also exposing it to damage.

BUT, a hair dryer brush is much, MUCH better for your hair than most other hair styling tools like a straightener or curling iron. That’s because a hair straightener, for example, clamps your hair in between two hot ceramic plates, that essentially fries your hair.

Hair dryer brushes use hot air, bristles, and plates that glide through your hair, so you’re exposing it to less heat and a lot less damage than most hair styling tools.

What is the Best Hair Dryer Brush?

There’s a lot that goes into choosing the best hair dryer brush for you – the price, if it’s suitable for short hair, how soft or hard the bristles are – and I’m here to simplify it for you.

Best Hair Dryer Brush Under $50

I’ve read a couple of articles talking about the best hair dryer brushes on the market and how you NEED to get them, but most of them are really expensive and I don’t know about you, but I don’t think I’m ready to splurge on a $200 hair dryer brush yet.

If you’re looking for affordable and effective hair dryer brushes, keep on reading because all of the ones I’m about to list are less than $50! YUP, you heard that right – LESS THAN $50.

Revlon Hair Dryer Brush – $41.99

This styler resurrected the hair dryer brush revolution this year and it makes perfect sense why! It has 1100 Watts and this baby is INCREDIBLE. It leaves your hair so voluminous and bouncy, and without the frizz!

It’s also great for all hair types – wavy, straight, or curly – though I would recommend using it if you have longer hair, because the barrel and bristles are bigger, so it would give you a tough time if you have short hair.

For long hair, though, this brush is perfect! Plus, it lets you get close to the root for that extra, extra volume. And at $41.99, this brush is a great deal!

Bed Head One-Step Hair Dryer and Volumizer – $43.99

Urwill Hot Air Brush and Volumizer – $24.98

This brush isn’t as mainstream as the Bed Head or Revlon one’s but it’s a great product for the price.

If you’re just starting out with hair dryer brushes and don’t know how to use to them or if you’ll like, this is a great starter hair dryer brush.

Jinri Hot Air Brush – $36.99

This hair styling brush is great for short hair. I also really like that it has a really long swivel cord that makes doing your hair so much more convenient.

If you want a brush that will create volume and get rid of frizz, check this brush out. Plus, it’s so easy to use, which is really nice because I don’t know about you but I don’t even bother trying to figure out hair tools that require me to pull out an instruction manual.

Upgrade Hair Brush Styler – $26.99

This is another really good starter hair styler that is affordable and good enough to understand your way around a hair styler for the first time. It also comes with extra hair styling attachments so you can experiment with it.

How to Use Hair Dryer Brushes for the Best Results

Not gonna lie, hair dryer brushes look pretty intimidating. It’s these big bristles, vaccum brush looking contraptions and trying to figure out how they work looks like it would be a pain in the butt.

But, these brushes are actually really simple to use! Essentially, it’s like brushing your hair like you normally would with a hair brush, except you’re styling at the same time.

So, if you want to give yourself the 90s supermodel blowout, you would start by brushing your hair, and then wrapping your hair around the brush like you would with a curler. Then, just gently keep pulling until the hair comes out.

I know it probably sounds like gibberish when written out, so here are some really great tutorials on how to use hair dryer brushes that will make doing your hair so simple and easy.
